History
Seven Waterholes, which supports a cluster of opal exploration licenses on Lambina Station, north-east of Marla, has only been settled since the early to mid 1990s. The settlement has not yet been surveyed into allotments that would allow the issue of residential tenures but has an almost permanent resident population of about 35 families, a meeting hall and a fuel depot.
It is also recognised for limited assistance purposes by the Outback Areas Community Development Trust. Access is by a maintained road from Marla and water is supplied from the surrounding station.
There are no services at Seven Waterholes beyond public telephones and many of the miners that work the open-cut excavations at Seven Waterholes ‘commute’ from Mintabie and Marla.
